Dreams Are Real!
By Oliver Odikamnoro
When I first became a member of Eckankar, I learned that the dream world is real, even more real than waking life. I found this rather difficult to believe, given my Christian background. Then an amazing experience happened, which taught me better.
I had been having a lingering migraine. I tried all the analgesics prescribed for me by my doctor. When I could no longer bear the frustration of ineffective medication, I turned to the Mahanta, my inner guide to ask for help.
Before bed, I sang HU the love song to God. I asked the Mahanta to assist me in overcoming my health problem.
I woke up in a dream in a hospital waiting room. The nurses on duty were immaculately dressed in white gowns and blue overcoats. They welcomed me with much warmth and ushered me into the doctor’s consulting room.
The doctor was tall and dark complexioned, with a well-trimmed black beard. His looks and composure perfectly fitted the description of the Tibetan ECK Master Rebazar Tarzs, whom I had read about in the Eckankar books.
Could this be him? I asked myself. No one ever told me he was a medical doctor.
He examined me and let me know that I needed brain surgery to correct a condition that could cause complications. He was so brisk and precise that, very shortly, I was on a motorized couch heading for the operating theater.
The theater itself was one of the most beautiful environments I have ever been in. All the surgical equipment was state of the art.
As I lay on the couch, my towering surgeon gazed down on me, and his nurses got things ready for him. He didn’t give me an anesthesia. Instead, he asked me to imagine where I would like to be while the operation proceeded. I imagined being with the Mahanta, discussing the goodness of Eckankar.
Immediately, I left my body, and the Mahanta appeared. We stood a few meters from the couch, and I thanked him for all the wonderful spiritual experiences I was having since becoming a member of Eckankar.
Meanwhile, the surgeon was busy operating on my brain. I watched, fascinated to learn that what I had studied about the human brain in high school biology was actually true.
The surgery went smoothly and was soon completed. The Mahanta motioned me to reenter my body on the couch. I did.
Suddenly, I was back in my physical body, in my own bed at home, fully awake from my dream. I was filled with so much love.
I got up to write down the dream and noticed that my head felt very light. There was no trace of the migraine that had plagued me for days.
Later, I confirmed that the surgeon in the dream was, indeed, the ECK Master Rebazar Tarzs.
